Parliament Condemns Saudi Attack on Al-Hazm Facility, Demands Accountability
The Yemeni Parliament has condemned the Saudi enemy’s targeting of Al-Hazm Correctional Facility in Al-Jawf province, calling it a flagrant violation of human rights and international humanitarian law and a crime against humanity.
In a statement Tuesday, Parliament said the facility is a civilian site protected under international humanitarian law, stressing the need for a clear international condemnation, an investigation into the attack and accountability for those responsible.
The Parliament said the incident is part of more than 12 years of Saudi aggression against Yemen, during which prisons, displacement camps, markets, schools, mosques and other civilian facilities have been targeted.
It also condemned international silence, UN complicity and double standards in applying international law, urging humanitarian and rights organizations to expose and hold accountable those responsible for attacks on civilians.
The Parliament called for the Saudi regime to be held accountable for its crimes against Yemenis and for its return to the UN list of shame, warning that impunity could encourage further attacks.
The latest attacks come amid an ongoing Saudi-led escalation on multiple fronts. Saudi-backed forces have continued shelling and targeting areas in Al-Jawf and other provinces, with civilians repeatedly caught in the violence.
Yemeni officials stressed that the Saudi enemy is using local mercenary forces to sustain military pressure and destabilize front-line areas, while warning that continued attacks risk further escalation and civilian casualties.
