International Satellite Firms Confirm Extensive Aramco Damage as Yemen Deepens Saudi Economic Crisis
Yemen’s latest military operation against Saudi energy and military facilities has inflicted extensive damage and fires, according to international satellite imagery companies, adding pressure to an already strained Saudi oil-dependent economy.
The Yemeni Armed Forces targeted Aramco facilities in Abha, Najran and Jizan, the Economic City, as well as Khamis Mushait Air Base with dozens of ballistic missiles and drones. Yemen said the strikes achieved direct and precise hits on their targets.
The Saudi regime’s so-called Energy Ministry acknowledged that several energy facilities in the south were targeted and that fires broke out, while satellite companies reported extensive damage. Terra satellite imagery showed large plumes of black smoke rising from an Aramco refinery and distribution facilities in Jizan and Abha.
Sentinel-2L imagery also showed damage at King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait, including damage to fighter-jet shelters, a warehouse and burn marks near an aircraft parking area. Swar Atlas, a satellite imagery company, separately reported major fires at the Abha fuel storage facility and Aramco’s Jizan refinery.
Experts and observers said the scale of the fires and damage indicates the intensity and precision of the strikes, extending their impact beyond oil facilities to Saudi military targets.
The developments could further deepen Saudi Arabia’s economic difficulties, particularly as disruptions to oil exports and repeated attacks on energy infrastructure threaten a sector that remains central to the kingdom’s revenues.
Yemen has warned that its operations will continue to target the resources financing Saudi aggression against Yemen.
