Yemeni Air Defenses Repel Saudi Combat Formation Over Taiz with Locally-Made Missiles

The Yemeni Armed Forces successfully intercepted and forced the withdrawal of a Saudi combat formation over Taiz province using a number of locally-manufactured surface-to-air missiles, according to official spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree.

In a brief statement, Brigadier General Saree also reported that Saudi enemy aircraft conducted 64 airstrikes over the past 24 hours across Taiz, Hodeidah, Marib, and Al-Jawf provinces. The strikes were carried out by F-15 and Typhoon fighter jets taking off from King Fahd Air Base in Taif and King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait.

The interception of a Saudi combat formation with locally-made surface-to-air missiles represents a significant advancement in Yemen’s air defense capabilities. The use of domestically manufactured missiles demonstrates Yemen’s growing self-sufficiency in military production and its ability to counter advanced Saudi aircraft.

The targeting of a combat formation over Taiz indicates that Saudi Arabia continues to attempt offensive operations in the province, despite previous setbacks.
