The Ain Humanitarian Center for Rights and Development condemned in the strongest terms of condemnation and denunciation the horrific crime committed by the Saudi regime by targeting Al-Shariya village in Bani Hushaysh District of Sanaa Governorate.
The Center denounced in a statement , the Saudi enemy aircraft’s targeting with a number of airstrikes the homes of citizens in Al-Shariya village, which led to the martyrdom and injury of 52 citizens, most of them children and women, in an initial toll, in a scene that reveals the scale of the humanitarian tragedy left by the aerial bombardment against civilian residents safe in their homes.
It noted that the massacre comes less than 24 hours after the brutal crime committed by Saudi enemy aircraft by targeting the Al-Hadarah market in Al-Wazi’iyah District of Taiz Governorate, which resulted in 30 martyrs and more than 21 wounded according to a non-final statistic.
The statement considered the Saudi enemy’s escalation a disregard for civilian lives and confirms that targeting population gatherings, markets, and inhabited homes is no longer isolated incidents, but a dangerous pattern that has affected civilians in various governorates of the republic, leaving more victims, destruction, and humanitarian tragedies.
It noted that the succession of these two massacres within less than 24 hours places the international community before its legal and moral responsibilities toward the Saudi enemy’s repeated crimes.
The statement said: “What doubles the horror of the crime is the Saudi aircraft’s deliberate renewal of targeting the homes of civilians, media personnel from Al-Masirah channel, and paramedics for the fourth time, which increased the number of victims, in extremely dangerous behavior that turns rescue operations and the treatment of victims into targets, and exposes the lives of civilians and ambulance teams to additional risks, in a flagrant violation of the humanitarian rules that impose the protection of the wounded, the injured, and those working in the medical and humanitarian field.”
The Ain Humanitarian Center affirmed that the consequences of targeting residential neighborhoods and inhabited homes, with the fall of a large number of victims, especially children and women, cannot be dealt with as mere collateral damage, but requires a serious and independent investigation to determine its circumstances and the extent to which the principles of distinction, proportionality, and due precautions were respected during the attacks.
It noted that international humanitarian law prohibits targeting civilians and civilian objects, and also obliges the protection of medical teams, ambulance means, the wounded, and the sick, and prohibits indiscriminate attacks and attacks that do not observe the principle of proportionality, considering the deliberate targeting of civilians or paramedics a war crime that requires criminal accountability in accordance with international law.
The Center’s statement held the Saudi regime legally and humanitariantly responsible for this crime, affirming that the repeated targeting of homes and paramedics for the fourth time requires not allowing officials responsible for these violations to escape punishment.
