Abdulsalam: Bab al-Mandab will not be closed as some claim; blockade applies only to Saudi side

The head of the national negotiating delegation, Mohammed Abdulsalam, affirmed Friday that Bab al-Mandab will not be closed as some claim, and that the blockade applies only to the Saudi side.

In a tweet on “X” platform, Abdulsalam stated, “Bab al-Mandab will not be closed as some claim. Yemen’s position, as announced by the Yemeni Armed Forces, is limited to a maritime blockade that applies only to the Saudi side.”

He indicated that the blockade is a response to the Saudi regime’s siege of Yemen and its refusal to accept any equitable approach to a solution that guarantees the security, sovereignty, and independence of the Yemeni people.
