Agency: Traffic in Strait of Hormuz Operates via Iranian Corridor

Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported on Monday that, amid American aggressive measures, navigation traffic in the Strait of Hormuz has declined, and crossings are being conducted via the Iranian corridor.

It stated that commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz is still ongoing, albeit limited, in light of the attacks on two tankers near the strait in recent days, which have raised deep concerns among ship owners regarding passage through this waterway. Data indicates that most crossings have been made through the corridor designated by Iran.

Tasnim quoted maritime vessel tracking data as saying that over the weekend, a limited number of ships crossed this strategic waterway, including two Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC) without cargo that entered the Persian Gulf. The majority of these crossings were through the route designated by Iran. Several ships subject to US sanctions also entered this strategic passage.

According to the agency, despite the decline in traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, the volume of movement has increased compared to the days of the war on Iran, indicating the existence of an understanding between Iran and the United States. Statistics also show that restoring navigation traffic in the Strait of Hormuz to its pre-war state will take many months.
