Grand Maritime Display Illuminates Al-Hodeida Coast on Eve of Central Mawlid al-Nabawi Celebration

The waterfront of Al-Hodeida city on the Red Sea coast was illuminated this evening with the lights of boats, light parades, and fireworks, in a wide celebratory scene rejoicing in the anniversary of the noble Prophet’s birth (may the best prayers and complete peace be upon him and his family), on the eve of the central celebration of the occasion.

Fishing boats lit up the city’s coast in a grand maritime display—the second of its kind and the largest—which set off from the fishing port basin and made its way along the Al-Hodeida Corniche, carrying flags and Muhammadan inscriptions, with wide participation from fishermen and workers in the fisheries sector.

The boats, adorned with green lights, glided along the coast as their lights scattered across the sea, while chants and Muhammadan hymns resonated throughout the area, giving the display a striking celebratory rhythm on the eve of the grandest festival commemorating the birth of the Prophet of the nation.

The display attracted notable official and public attendance, with its launch witnessed by the Minister of Transport and Public Works Mohammed Qahim, the Governor of Al-Hodeida Abdullah Atifi, the First Deputy Governor Ahmed Al-Bishari, a number of executive leaders, and a large gathering of the city’s residents who followed the maritime display along the coast.

The maritime display carried special significance with the presence of coastal residents and fishermen in commemorating the occasion, as the boats associated with their daily work became a means of expressing joy at the anniversary of the birth of light—a scene that combined the distinctiveness of the coastal environment with the celebratory expressions of the occasion.

City residents followed the carnival festival of fishing boats from along the coast, as celebratory scenes spread across the waterfront, making the display a focal point for residents and visitors, and adding a maritime character to the general scene of the occasion that distinguishes Al-Hodeida and its connection to the sea.

This display came on the eve of the central Mawlid al-Nabawi celebration on the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal, for which Al-Hodeida Governorate is preparing with an exceptional celebration in the squares of Martyr Al-Sammad in Al-Hodeida city and Al-Husayniyah in Bayt Al-Faqih District, along with the women’s square at Al-Ofi Sports Stadium in Al-Hodeida city.

A large number of fishermen and fisheries sector workers participated in the maritime festival, forming a maritime tableau stretching along the city’s coast. It was organized by the General Authority for Fisheries in the Red Sea, in coordination with the General Mobilization in the governorate, and in cooperation with the Coast Guard Service and the Tihama Coast Cooperative Fishing Association, in celebration of the birth of the Chosen One.

The display coincided with fireworks launched over Al-Hodeida city, illuminating the coast with their colors, their light drifting over the sea—a scene where the lights of the sky merged with the lights of the boats, crowning a night rich with expressions of joy at the anniversary of the birth of the Greatest Messenger, in preparation for tomorrow’s central celebration in the three squares.

The display also coincided with light parades of cars and motorcycles that toured the streets of Al-Hodeida city, extending along its coast, adorned with flags and lights, in a notable celebratory scene where the lights of the parades met the lights of the boats, adding to the Mawlid al-Nabawi atmosphere a distinctive scene that extended between the coast and the city.

This second maritime display comes within the events taking place on the coasts of Al-Hodeida city in celebration of the Mawlid al-Nabawi, culminating a series of activities and events the governorate has witnessed since the beginning of the month of Safar, spanning its various districts.
