Iran & Oman discuss situation in Strait of Hormuz

The Omani capital, Muscat, hosted a legal and technical meeting on Tuesday between Iran and Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the official Iranian news agency, a delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran, headed by the Director General of the International Legal Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abbas Bagherpour, and with the participation of representatives from relevant authorities, held a meeting with the Omani delegation in the Omani capital, Muscat.

During the meeting, the latest developments regarding the Strait of Hormuz and the arrangements for the safe passage of ships through this waterway were discussed.

The two sides affirmed their sovereign rights and authorities over this strait as part of the territorial waters of both Iran and Oman.

The Iranian delegation met with Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr Al Busaidi.

The delegation also met with the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization, Arsenio Dominguez, who is currently visiting Oman, and during the meeting, relevant technical issues were discussed.
