Leader of revolution honors martyrs’ families, Yemeni people on annual commemoration of martyr 1448 AH
In his address on Thursday marking this occasion, the Leader of the Revolution described it as a significant event of profound faith-based value—an occasion that derives its sanctity, greatness, and importance from the sacred status that Allah—glory be to Him—has bestowed upon martyrdom in His path, and upon those who are martyred in His cause.
Al-Houthi stated, “Our people observe this occasion while continuing to offer, day after day, convoys of martyrs. They uphold the banner of jihad/ struggle in the path of Allah, confronting the onslaught of the arrogant, oppressive, criminal tyrannical power that attacks our people unjustly—driven by oppression, aggression, transgression, and arrogance.” He further noted that “our cherished people remain steadfast in their position and in their liberation movement, treading the path of truth, having freed themselves from the control of the arrogant, oppressive *taghut*.”
He pointed out that by observing this commemoration annually, the Yemeni people seek to firmly establish the Quranic concept of martyrdom in the path of Allah—glory be to Him. He added, “The spirit of our people is of great importance in breaking all the shackles of fear—the chains with which tyrants, despots, oppressors, and the arrogant seek to bind the peoples of our Islamic nation. Their goal is to domesticate these peoples, making it easier to dominate, control, and enslave them.”
The Leader explained that by commemorating this occasion, the Yemeni people further cultivate this spirit—a spirit that liberates nations from the captivity of fear and elevates the nation’s capacity for action and engagement to a high level. With the spirit of martyrdom, tyrants can never succeed in humiliating the nation or establishing hegemony over it.
He noted that those who have fallen as martyrs in the path of Allah serve as inspiring models through their self-sacrifice, character, values, and steadfastness. From them, the nation draws lessons in profound patience, generosity, and resilience in the face of tyranny. He emphasized that Allah’s guidance—and acting in His path across all spheres of life—represents the noblest framework, empowering individuals to stand for what is right and just, and to establish the values of goodness, truth, and justice.
He continued, “Allah’s guidance contains no injustice toward people, nor any form of transgression; it never distorts or harms a person’s moral orientation. In contrast, the motivations behind the stances taken by many—across the broader human landscape—are often fraught with negativity, harmful impulses, and malicious objectives.”
Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi pointed out that many forces in the human arena are driven by a desire for injustice, domination, acquisition, tyranny, brutality, despotism, and greed—a reality that is starkly evident in the conduct of various states and entities that possess immense power and resources.
He stated, “Many of the visions that drive various forces are often dark and dehumanizing. Conversely, when a nation acts in the path of Allah, it liberates itself from the dominion of tyrants, oppressors, the arrogant, and criminals; in doing so, it gains resilience, divine support, and Allah’s aid.”
Al-Houthi added, “The adversaries we fight—those whom Allah has commanded us to confront—are wicked criminals, tyrants, corruptors, oppressors, and the arrogant. Their criminality and tyranny target human societies—and us as a nation—with the aim of enslavement, injustice, humiliation, and the violation of all that is sacred.”
He explained that “Jihad in the path of Allah grants us, as a nation, true freedom—liberation from the control of tyrants, oppressors, criminals, the arrogant, corruptors, and the wicked. Furthermore, Jihad places us in a position of strength, enabling us to counter their malice, criminality, tyranny, corruption, and injustice.”
Al-Houthi emphasized that through Jihad, a nation secures Allah’s aid and support—provided it also pursues the practical means to achieve victory—thereby becoming a resilient, dignified nation that remains unconquerable by oppressors. The alternative to Jihad in the path of Allah is a state of subjugation, where the nation is rendered subservient to tyrants, oppressors, and the arrogant.
The leader noted that the enemies covet control over the nation, seeking to seize its resources and occupy its lands. Therefore, any people who desire dignity, safety, protection, and resilience must possess the strength and capability to confront any aggression directed against them.
He reaffirmed that the nation requires Jihad to defend itself against the evils of the wicked, tyrants, and criminals; it serves as a means to protect people and liberate them from the hegemony of tyrannical, oppressive, or ungodly power.
Al-Houthi stated, “One of the outcomes and fruits of Jihad is the establishment of truth, justice, and goodness within society. Even a peaceful people who wish well for those around them will not be spared from the malice of the wicked,” citing the Palestinian people—who have not been spared from such evil—as an example.
He added, “Before the British occupation—and subsequently the Zionist occupation—the Palestinian people held no particular stance against the Jews or Britain. They were a vulnerable people whom the British and the Jews chose to target, driven by their own greed and malevolent motives.”
He continued, “It is a profound blessing that the martyrs exist in a state of perpetual joy, glad tidings, and happiness.” He emphasized that the nation has neglected its sacred duties for centuries, and this failure has enabled tyrants, despots, and oppressors to spread injustice and corruption.
Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi pointed out that tyrants and oppressors have filled the world with injustice, tyranny, evil, and corruption. They have disrupted the lives of human societies, burdening them with hardships, sorrows, and crises—effectively turning human existence into one defined by grievances, moral decay, and crimes.
He remarked, “Whenever tyrants and evildoers gain power, they direct all their resources and capabilities against the people and their lives. There are entities that possess immense material resources, as well as vast military and economic power, all of which they turn against the lives of the people.”
He added, “Some entities possess immense capabilities and resources across all levels and in various fields; yet, to the extent that these powers and entities have acquired such potential and influence, they have chosen to employ them for tyranny, criminality, and the oppression of human societies.”
He further questioned what the state of the world might be like if the United States were a force for good and righteousness—utilizing its vast capabilities for the benefit of human societies, rather than inflicting injustice upon them across large parts of the globe.
The Leader of the Revolution emphasized that America has even employed nuclear weapons—nuclear bombs—to kill hundreds of thousands of people, including children, women, the elderly, and the young. He noted that America designs the most lethal types of weaponry specifically for the destruction of cities, aiming for maximum devastation, carnage, and loss of life.
He explained that, with its vast capabilities and resources, America strives to develop the deadliest weapons—designed not only to destroy cities but to annihilate their populations. Furthermore, it leverages its media apparatus to spread falsehoods and corruption, to domesticate nations, to lead them astray, and to morally corrupt them.
Al-Houthi stressed the necessity for the Islamic nation to strive toward establishing justice on a global scale, protecting vulnerable peoples, and working toward their guidance and reform. He pointed out that taking a principled stand for the sake of Allah—the Exalted and Almighty—is of profound importance for the well-being and happiness of human societies.
He continued, “The forces of evil and tyranny have filled this world with sorrow, wickedness, oppression, criminality, and injustice, turning the human experience—for the most part—into a genuine tragedy.”
He added, “One of the great blessings bestowed upon the martyrs is that they exist in a state of perpetual joy and happiness—a state that, in truth, may not even exist within the human reality on Earth.” He affirmed that, amidst the bliss they enjoy, the martyrs rejoice for their companions who remain on the same path and follow the same course.
The Leader further noted that the joy of the martyrs stems both from the blessings they currently experience and from the anticipation of what awaits their companions.
He explained that the martyrs have transitioned into a life of true happiness and contentment—a life entirely free from any distress or hardship—and that they feel neither regret nor any sense of loss. He pointed out that the blessings and honors Allah has prepared for the martyrs transcend human aspirations—surpassing even the limits of human imagination. The martyrs rejoice in the eternal, everlasting bliss that Allah will bestow upon them in the hereafter.
He stated, “The great rewards and immense favors that the martyrs once only heard about, they now behold and witness firsthand. Martyrdom—with its profound blessings and high honors—serves as a powerful motivation to act in the cause of Allah, and a strong incentive for jihad in His path; it addresses the very obstacle that might otherwise hold many people back from taking that step.”
He added, “The fear of being killed can deter many from acting in the cause of Allah.” He emphasized that a nation suffers its greatest losses when it fails to act in the cause of Allah, the Almighty; when a nation ceases to be proactive and productive, it becomes vulnerable—exposed to being crushed and trampled by its enemies, resulting in catastrophic losses.
He continued, “The continuation of a martyr’s life is an eternal existence filled with immense happiness, profound blessings, and great honor. At the same time, martyrdom serves as a source of deep solace for the families of the martyrs.”
He further remarked, “Allah Almighty has reassured the families of the martyrs regarding the future and the station of their loved ones—confirming that they are martyrs in the cause of Allah, graced with this supreme honor. The martyr attains this great distinction, this profound happiness, and a blissful life in the presence of their Lord. They are enveloped in the boundless care of Allah—His mercy, grace, blessings, and generosity—in ways that exceed anything a human being could possibly imagine.” The Leader emphasized that when a nation possesses awareness, culture, and insight—and truly grasps these Quranic concepts—the families of martyrs take great pride in what they have offered for the sake of Allah. They find profound honor in the fact that their loved ones are martyrs in the path of Allah, remaining steadfast and seeking their reward from Him alone.
He stated, “Our striving, mujahid communities remain resilient, regardless of how many martyrs they offer; in fact, they only grow more steadfast, determined, unyielding, and courageous in the path of Allah Almighty.” He noted that the perspective held by the relatives of martyrs reflects a state of steadfastness, reliance upon Allah, and patience regarding the sacrifices they have made for His sake.
He further explained that the expressions used by the families of martyrs—and by their striving communities—reflect a spirit of steadfastness, strength, resilience, and valor, as well as a deep sense of pride in their martyrs and the sacrifices made for Allah. He pointed out that this spirit of self-giving and martyrdom in the path of Allah is a faith-based disposition that elevates a nation, empowering it to confront even the most formidable tyrants and the most wicked of adversaries.
He added, “The spirit of self-giving and martyrdom in the path of Allah enables a nation to endure hardships and remain firm in the face of challenges, no matter their magnitude. This elevated spirit places the nation in a strong, advanced position to confront tyrants, despots, and oppressors.” He affirmed that a nation which embraces the spirit of martyrdom in the path of Allah—guided by insight, clarity, and awareness—can never be broken when facing criminals and tyrants.
The Leader of the Revolution pointed out that tyrants, despots, and evildoers resort to methods of oppression and brute force to strike at nations and target the vulnerable. They commit acts of genocide, murder, and indiscriminate attacks against people—both young and old. He emphasized that a nation that aligns itself with the righteous stance, just causes, and a path consistent with the Holy Quran, remains steadfast and unbroken.
He stated, “Allah grants a nation that strives and makes sacrifices in His path honor, resilience, victory, and strength. He enables such a nation to live in true freedom, beholden to no tyrants, arrogant oppressors, or wrongdoers.” He further noted that Paradise is the guaranteed, eternal future—the ultimate form of bliss, a pure state of felicity that far surpasses any temptations others might offer.
Al-Houthi added, “Many people are drawn toward a false cause—serving falsehood and supporting injustice and criminality—all for the sake of trivial temptations. Yet, whatever trivial enticements others may offer pale in comparison to what a nation striving in the path of Allah attains—the goodness Allah has promised such a nation, both in this world and the Hereafter, along with the honor, strength, and empowerment He bestows upon it.”
He continued, “Even if there are phases marked by hardship, suffering, and sacrifice, the ultimate outcome—as affirmed by Allah in the Holy Quran—belongs to the Allah-fearing (the *muttaqin*), even within this very life.”
Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi pointed out that the believing nation confronts all its enemies—regardless of their capabilities, their might, their tyranny, or their criminality. The very injustice and corruption embodied by these enemies serve as an even greater impetus to confront them and resist their tyranny, evil, and crimes.
He stated, “The phrase ‘and they did not alter [their commitment] in the least’ signifies sincerity, steadfastness, and integrity. The Holy Quran provides us with an important classification and assessment of two groups that play the most prominent roles in the reality of life”—noting that there is a role dedicated to serving evil, and a role dedicated to serving goodness, truth, and righteousness in this life.
He added, “There is a group that plays a dangerous role in human societies—a destructive, malevolent role. In these blessed verses, the Holy Quran presents us with two examples; one of these involves actors who operate under labels designed to deceive people.”
The Leader emphasized that forces of evil and criminality make a point of presenting their unjust, illegitimate, and criminal actions to societies and nations under deceptive guises. These same forces employ such misleading labels to subjugate peoples, justify their own criminal conduct, promote the falsehoods they pursue, and—at the level of rhetoric—champion these deceptive pretexts.
