Nine Prisoners Killed in Saudi Airstrike on Al-Hazm Prison in Al-Jawf
Nine prisoners captured in recent events were killed when the Saudi enemy targeted a prison housing a number of prisoners in Al-Hazm city, Al-Jawf province, last night.
Abdul Qader Al-Murtadha, head of the National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs, confirmed on Tuesday that the criminal Saudi enemy targeted a prison housing a number of prisoners in Al-Hazm city, leading to the killing of nine prisoners who had been captured in recent events.
Al-Murtadha indicated that a list of the names of the nine prisoners will be published later.
The airstrike on the prison in Al-Hazm city comes amid a significant escalation in Saudi military operations against Yemen, following the Armed Forces’ liberation of the western coast.
The targeting of a prison housing captured prisoners raises serious concerns under international humanitarian law, which prohibits attacks on civilian objects and requires parties to distinguish between civilian and military objectives. Prisons are generally considered civilian objects unless they are being used for military purposes, and the killing of prisoners in custody constitutes a grave violation.
