Settlers attack Palestinians, their property in Birzeit & south of Nablus

Groups of settlers stormed the industrial zone in the town of Birzeit, north of Ramallah, on Wednesday evening, carrying out acts of assault and provocation against Palestinian citizens and their property.

Local sources told the Palestinian Sana news agency that the settlers, under the protection of enemy forces, headed towards the outskirts of the town toward citizens’ homes, in addition to attempted incursions in the vicinity of the neighboring village of Jifna.

They added that clashes broke out with young men in the area, accompanied by heavy live fire in the vicinity of the industrial zone and the outskirts of the two towns.

Also on Wednesday evening, a group of settlers attacked citizens’ homes in the town of Beita, south of Nablus, in the northeastern West Bank.

Local sources reported that a number of settlers in a vehicle stormed the Jabal Bir Quza area in the town during the evening hours and stoned citizens’ homes.

The villages and towns of Nablus are witnessing an escalation in settler attacks, amid fears of a repetition of previous crimes that resulted in several martyrs.

This new attack comes as violations by Israeli enemy forces and settlers in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem have escalated, reaching more than 9,406 violations during March, according to the Palestinian Information Center (Mada).

According to the Anti-Wall and Settlement Authority, settlers carried out 497 attacks in the West Bank during the mentioned period, concentrated in Nablus governorate with 113 attacks, Hebron with 110 attacks, and Ramallah and Al-Bireh with 90 attacks.
