Security agencies expose methods used by Israeli enemy to recruit individuals & intelligence-gathering operatives
The following is the text of the statement:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Explanatory statement regarding recruitment methods, mechanisms, and means of intelligence gathering used by the Israeli enemy’s intelligence services, according to confessions of individuals involved in espionage with the Israeli enemy.
Allah the Almighty said: (And they plan, and Allah plans; and Allah is the best of planners). True is the word of Allah.
As part of what Allah bestows upon our Yemeni people and their security agencies in exposing and thwarting the plots and agendas of the Israeli enemy, including what was recently announced regarding the arrest of a number of individuals who worked directly with the Israeli enemy’s intelligence services, it has become clear to the security agencies that the Israeli enemy has made numerous attempts to recruit Yemeni citizens and collect information in order to harm Yemen and its pivotal role in the region.
Many recruitment operations failed in their early stages, colliding with public awareness. Other attempts also failed at later stages when those involved realized that those they were communicating or working with were the Israeli enemy. The security agencies have also foiled enemy efforts by arresting a number of its operatives, and efforts to track remaining elements are ongoing.
As part of the security agencies’ contribution to raising public awareness, we reveal a number of the Israeli enemy’s recruitment methods and intelligence-gathering mechanisms.
First: Methods of enticement and recruitment:
Financial incentives through paid advertisements on the internet, social media platforms, and some games, misleading targets into believing that engaging with Israeli intelligence ensures their future security and stability, then directing them to communicate through official websites of the enemy’s intelligence services.
Exploiting job seekers through job advertisements on specialized websites and companies online. After reviewing CVs and contacting targets, they are subjected to acceptance tests that gradually escalate to requests for security-related information.
Exploiting victims of soft war by directing their inclinations toward deviant ideas in service of Israeli agendas aimed at severing the Yemeni people’s connection to their faith-based identity, discouraging society from supporting the nation’s causes through organized psychological campaigns, ultimately aiming to eliminate hostility toward the Israeli enemy under misleading titles.
Moral entrapment of the target to make them more susceptible to carrying out any task requested by Israeli intelligence, along with threats to publish photos and videos of the victim if they refuse.
Direct or indirect contact by Israeli intelligence with some members of society through Arab or Western intermediaries to collect security, military, and political information affecting national security. In some cases, Israeli intelligence officers intimidate targets by implying knowledge of extensive personal details about them.
Social media influencers affiliated with Israeli intelligence, trained in the Yemeni dialect, build relationships with Yemenis under the pretext of discussing Yemeni customs, traditions, and arts and preserving them. In later stages, some Jewish influencers request their followers to provide information about the locations and residences of national leaders in Sana’a in exchange for money.
Second: Methods and tools of intelligence gathering:
Surveys and field questionnaires through online profit-making websites and applications to collect seemingly personal information related to income levels and dietary programs, progressing to direct surveys and communications with targets to gather economic, security, service-related, and political information, including sensitive data affecting national security and military matters.
Personal relationships via social media platforms with trained operatives fluent in various Arabic dialects, building relationships with targets under attractive slogans suggesting support for the Palestinian cause and Yemen’s stance on regional issues. In some cases, non-Arab foreigners were used to lure individuals to travel abroad and then recruit them directly.
Conducting interviews with targets under the cover of international organizations and media outlets to gather detailed information about various sectors, including medical, economic, and military facilities, while misleading the target into believing their responses will improve aid, services, and living conditions. Some of these interviews were conducted through intermediary entities under a journalistic cover.
Exploiting conversations and discussions to guide recruited agents to collect information about state leaders, as well as economic, political, social, security, and military conditions.
In conclusion, we affirm to our great Yemeni people that the security agencies will remain loyal to them, standing on the front lines to protect the internal front, and will work diligently and firmly to confront the enemy’s schemes and its collaborators, which target our Yemeni people amid their supportive role for the Palestinian cause and the causes of the Islamic nation, and in confronting the so-called “Greater Israel” Zionist project. We also appreciate and value the cooperation, vigilance, and awareness of our noble Yemeni people, which has played a significant role in thwarting enemy plots through reporting them. The security agencies also call upon anyone involved in any form of communication with the Israeli enemy, whether directly or through intermediaries, to report it to the designated security hotline numbers.
