UNIFIL: Significant increase in Israeli military activity in southern Lebanon, at rate of 137 projectiles daily
The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) confirmed on Monday that it had observed a significant increase in Israeli military activity in southern Lebanon, averaging 137 projectiles per day over the past two weeks.
UNIFIL said in a statement published by Lebanon’s National News Agency that the past two weeks have witnessed a significant increase in Israeli military activity in southern Lebanon.
It added that it recorded an average of 137 projectiles per day between August 5 and 16, including 208 on Saturday and 185 on Sunday.
Since March 2, the Israeli enemy has escalated its criminal aggression against Lebanon, targeting Lebanese towns, villages, cities, and civilian infrastructure, resulting in thousands of martyrs and wounded, and the displacement of approximately 1.5 million Lebanese citizens.
On June 18, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding had been signed electronically between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which included a ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon. However, Israeli enemy forces are committing daily violations of the agreement.
