Yemen Education Ministry Condemns Saudi Strike on Students

Yemen’s Ministry of Education and Scientific Research condemned a Saudi airstrike that directly targeted the Beit Al-Laheida area in Suwan, Bani Hashish District, Sana’a Province, killing one female student and injuring three others.

In a statement, the ministry said that the attack was part of a broader pattern of attacks affecting Yemeni civilians and the education sector, including students, teachers and educational facilities.

The ministry called on international human rights and humanitarian organizations to condemn such attacks and urged the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibility to protect civilians, homes and educational facilities.

It also criticized international silence over attacks against the Yemeni people, saying such acts violate international laws and conventions.

Yemen’s education sector has been severely disrupted by years of aggression, with schools and other civilian facilities repeatedly affected. Meanwhile, the UN and the international community do nothing to protect educational institutions and civilians.
