UN: Over 100 Gazans Killed by Israeli Forces in Two Days While Seeking Food

The United Nations reported on Friday that Israeli forces killed over 100 Palestinians in Gaza within two days while searching for food, with hundreds more injured along food convoy routes or near Israeli-controlled aid distribution sites.

Citing the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), deputy spokesman Farhan Haq raised alarm over the growing number of fatalities and injuries among Palestinians in the Gaza Strip who are being killed while trying to secure basic food supplies.

“According to our human rights colleagues, more than 100 people were killed in the past two days alone, with hundreds of others injured along food convoy routes or near Israeli militarized distribution hubs,” Haq said.

“OCHA reiterates that no one should ever be forced to risk their life to find food. Civilians must always be protected, and community-level aid delivery at scale must be facilitated, not obstructed,” he said.

He emphasized that due to the months-long Israeli regime’s blockade of the coastal territory, the shortage of life-sustaining basic goods has deepened the humanitarian crisis, which can only be addressed through the “unrestricted flow of aid” into Gaza.

“Humanitarians must also have rapid, safe, and unfettered access to deliver aid in a safe and dignified manner,” He added.

“The routes that Israeli authorities instruct our teams to drive through remain insufficient and are often dangerous, congested, or impassable,” he stressed.

IPC: Gaza faces severe risk of famine

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) released a report on Tuesday, warning that Gaza faces the severe risk of famine as food consumption and nutrition indicators have reached their worst levels since the war began.

“Mounting evidence shows that widespread starvation, malnutrition, and disease are driving a rise in hunger-related deaths. Latest data indicate that Famine thresholds have been reached for food consumption in most of the Gaza Strip and for acute malnutrition in Gaza City,” the report said.

“We call for the immediate end to the blockade and a full return to the distribution of food and essential supplies by the UN and other humanitarian organizations, in accordance with humanitarian principles,” the report added.

The Israeli regime has maintained a blockade on Gaza for 18 years and, since March 2, 2025, when it violated its ceasefire agreement with the Palestinian resistance group Hamas, has sealed all border crossings, blocking the entry of all aid and worsening the already dire humanitarian conditions in the territory.

Since the Israeli regime began its genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, it has murdered over 60,332 Palestinians and wounded more than 147,643, most of them children and women.
