Amjad Al-Shawa, Director of the Palestinian Civil Organizations Network, confirmed on Thursday that the humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip does not exceed 20 to 30% of the population’s actual needs, warning that the continuation of the strict Israeli blockade and the prevention of aid inflows are worsening the living crisis in the Strip.
In a statement to “Cairo News Channel”, Al-Shawa said that the quantities of aid delivered so far do not match the scale of the tragedy that the Palestinian people have been experiencing for months.
He added that the shelter crisis is currently the biggest challenge, as only a few thousand tents have been delivered, while the Strip needs more than 300,000 tents to house those affected and replace worn-out tents.
Al-Shawa noted that approximately 1.5 million people have lost their houses due to the ongoing Israeli aggression.
He warned that the crisis would worsen with the approach of winter, amid a severe shortage of blankets, clothing, and bedding, pointing out that Israel prevents aid from entering through UNRWA, despite around 600 trucks waiting at the border since last February, and also blocks thousands of trucks from international humanitarian organizations.
