Israeli enemy forces uproot 777 trees in WB in week

Palestinian agricultural sources documented on Saturday the uprooting and destruction of 777 trees in various areas of the occupied West Bank as a result of attacks by the Israeli enemy over the course of a week, with losses exceeding $761,000.

According to the Palestinian news agency Safa, sources reported a significant escalation in Israeli violations against the agricultural sector in the West Bank governorates between February 5th and 11th.

The sources explained that this escalation included the bulldozing and demolition of agricultural infrastructure, the destruction of water sources, and widespread attacks on fruit trees, in addition to settler attacks targeting crops and agricultural property and preventing farmers from accessing their land.

They noted that their teams documented the uprooting and destruction of 777 trees, mostly olive trees, with the Hebron governorate in the southern West Bank and the Nablus governorate in the northern West Bank bearing the brunt of the damage.

The agricultural sources added that the total value of losses due to these attacks during the aforementioned period exceeded $761,000.

They stated that these attacks are part of “accelerated policies aimed at undermining the foundations of Palestinian agricultural resilience by depleting productive resources and weakening the ability to cultivate the land, particularly in Area C, through administrative measures.” Legally, this includes orders to halt construction and demolition and to prevent reclamation.”
