The Entisaf Organization for Women’s and Children’s Rights condemned in the strongest terms the escalation of the Saudi enemy and its continued attacks that have targeted a number of Yemeni governorates, targeting civilians and their property, health facilities, drinking water sources, and communications networks.
The organization considered in a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that these attacks and crimes are a flagrant violation of the rules of international humanitarian law and the principles of protecting civilians and civilian objects during armed conflicts.
The statement explained that the shelling of a fuel station in the Al-Dhabab area of Sabr Al-Mawadim District in Taiz Governorate, which resulted in the martyrdom of two citizens and the injury of seven others, in addition to causing severe material damage to property, represents a dangerous attack that threatens the security, safety, and livelihoods of citizens.
It denounced the targeting of the drinking water tank supplying the villages of Al-Ardah and Azzan in the Qadas sub-district area of Al-Mawasit District in Taiz Governorate, due to the direct threat it poses to citizens’ right to access water and the exposure of their lives and health to grave risks.
The Intisaf Organization condemned the targeting of the old Al-Mokha Hospital in Taiz Governorate and the severe damage caused to its buildings and health facilities, affirming that medical facilities enjoy special protection under international humanitarian law, and that attacking them threatens the lives of patients and the wounded and deprives the most vulnerable groups, such as women, children, and the elderly, of their basic right to access health care.
It denounced the destruction of the communications network in Maran District of Saada with two airstrikes, noting the resulting disruption of means of communication and basic services, the obstruction of delivering distress calls and humanitarian information, and the aggravation of civilian suffering.
The organization stressed that targeting health facilities, water sources, communications networks, and other civilian objects cannot be treated as passing damage, and that perpetrators must be held accountable in accordance with international law to ensure non-impunity and justice for victims.
It held the parties responsible for the attacks fully responsible for the humanitarian and legal consequences, demanding that the international community, the United Nations, and human rights and humanitarian organizations assume their responsibilities and break their silence regarding the continuation of the aggression and siege imposed on Yemen for 12 years, and act urgently to stop the violations, ensure the protection of civilians, medical facilities, water sources, and other civilian objects, and lift the siege to end the suffering of the populatio
