Leader: International Quds Day a Rallying Point for the Ummah, a Measure of Liberation from Hegemony
The Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, affirmed that International Quds Day represents an important occasion to mobilize the Islamic Ummah and a key measure of freedom from foreign domination, while calling on the Yemeni people to take part in mass rallies marking the occasion.
In a speech on the occasion of Quds Day for the Hijri year 1447 AH, the leader said historical and current developments have placed everyone before a real test, noting that events over the decades have revealed who is truthful and who is deceptive regarding the Palestinian cause.
He stressed that the occasion reminds the Ummah of its responsibility to confront the Jewish-Zionist threat that occupies Al-Quds, Palestine, and other Arab lands, warning that the Zionist entity seeks to destroy Al-Aqsa Mosque and pursue a project of “Greater Israel” through occupation and full control of the region.
The leader explained that the designation of the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as Quds Day by Ruhollah Khomeini carries significant meaning, emphasizing that it reflects the religious, moral and jihadist responsibility of Muslims to support the Palestinian people and keep their cause alive despite attempts to marginalize it.
He also praised the early adoption of the Palestinian cause by the Islamic Republic of Iran, saying Tehran demonstrated the sincerity of its position through continued support for the Palestinian people. He added that the stance toward Palestine remains a true measure of freedom and dignity, and that successive developments over the decades have exposed the reality behind competing claims of support for the Palestinian cause.
Sayyed Abdulmalik called on the Yemeni people to participate in a massive rally on Friday to commemorate Quds Day, expressing hope for a large and honorable turnout in Sana’a and other provinces. He noted that Yemenis are among the most active people in commemorating the occasion and expressed hope that the event would witness a large-scale “million-person” turnout.
He added that mass participation represents part of the nation’s struggle and a significant act of devotion during the last ten days of Ramadan, considering it an opportunity to show solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
International Quds Day was declared in 1979 by Ruhollah Khomeini, founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to be observed annually on the last Friday of Ramadan. The occasion is marked by rallies and events in several countries in support of Palestine and Al-Quds, and in rejection of the policies of the Zionist entity.
