The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) affirmed on Saturday that the trauma experienced by children in the Gaza Strip will not end simply with a ceasefire, pointing out that children need healthcare, education, and psychological support.
UNICEF said in a post on the “X” platform,: “Children know that trauma doesn’t end when the bombing stops.”
It confirmed that “nine out of ten children in Gaza need mental health support, along with shelter, education, and healthcare.”
With American and European support, the Israeli enemy army committed genocide, siege, and starvation crimes in the Gaza Strip for over two consecutive years since October 7, 2023.
These crimes have resulted in the martyrdom of 72,051 Palestinian civilians, the majority of them children and women, and the injury of 171,706 others as of today. This is a preliminary toll, as thousands of victims remain under the rubble and on the roads, with ambulance and rescue crews unable to reach them.
A ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip came into effect on October 10, 2025, after two consecutive years of genocidal Zionist war. However, the Israeli enemy army continues to commit daily violations of the agreement.
