Iran’s Deputy Minister of Communications and Head of the Iranian Space Agency, Hassan Salarieh, announced on Wednesday that the country will soon unveil its first domestically developed radar imaging satellite.
According to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, Salarieh said Iran’s space program continues to advance through the development of space infrastructure, communications and remote sensing satellites, expanded space-based data services, and broader international cooperation in the space sector.
He noted that Iran’s space industry is making significant progress in three main areas: infrastructure development, satellite production, and satellite data and imaging services.
Salarieh also revealed plans to establish a nationwide network of satellite control centers, saying the expansion would reduce communication time with satellites, shorten orbital testing periods, and increase satellite operational efficiency.
He added that infrastructure development will continue this year following the inauguration of the Salmas satellite control center last year.
He also announced that the Chabahar launch site in southeastern Iran is expected to open in the coming months, alongside several new laboratory facilities.
