The Entisaf Organization for Women’s and Children’s Rights condemned in the strongest terms the crime of aggression committed by Saudi enemy reinforcements by targeting the Al-Amror area of Hayfan District in Taiz Governorate with mortar shells, resulting in the martyrdom of two citizens, including a girl, and the injury of six others, including two children and two women, some of them with serious injuries.
The organization considered in a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the crime represents a new link in the chain of systematic violations affecting civilians and residential neighborhoods in Yemen, noting that direct shelling of homes doubles the risks to women and children and deprives safe families of the components of stability, leaving deep physical and psychological pain that follows the victims and their families.
The statement explained that targeting population gatherings represents a grave violation of the rules of international humanitarian law, foremost among them the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 and Additional Protocol I of 1977, which impose special protection for civilians and prohibit exposing their lives and safety to danger.
The organization held the Saudi enemy fully legally and humanitariantly responsible for the crime and its repercussions, demanding that the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, the High Commissioner, and international organizations concerned with protecting women and children assume their legal and moral responsibilities, explicitly condemn the crime, and act immediately to provide protection for civilians.
It called for documenting the violations, holding their perpetrators accountable, and achieving justice for the victims, and also called on the international community to move from formal condemnation positions to serious practical steps that ensure an end to targeting residential areas and preserve human dignity.
