Yemen’s Minister of Transport and Public Works, Major General Mohammed Ayash Quhim, said an aircraft carrying stranded civilians, patients, and an official Yemeni delegation landed safely at home land despite Saudi airstrikes targeting Sana’a International Airport earlier in the day.
In remarks on Monday, Quhim said the Iranian aircraft arrived safely in Yemen with a number of patients and stranded passengers, accompanied by the official delegation of Yemen.
The landing came hours after Saudi warplanes struck Sana’a International Airport in a major escalation against the country’s main civilian airport.
In the meantime, observers said the aircraft’s successful landing dealt a major blow to the Saudi regime and its proxies, arguing that the attack on Sana’a International Airport has opened the gates of hell for Riyadh and its mercenary forces.
Earlier, Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e warned that the Saudi attack on Sana’a International Airport “would not go unanswered,” pledging a response to Saudi aggression.
Saudi airstrikes on Sana’a International Airport have prompted widespread condemnation from Yemeni officials, who say the attack effectively ended the de-escalation process that had been in place since the 2022 truce. Saudi Arabia is maintaining restrictions on the airport and using the blockade as a tool of economic pressure, while the airport serves as a vital humanitarian lifeline for patients, civilians, and international travel.
